Migrations and Developpement: a need for coherent policies adapted to reality

Migration is a universal phenomenon rising complex issues in sending countries as in receiving or transit countries. Yet, issues and stakes linked to the migratory phenomenon are often simplified by public debates as in public policies supposed to solve this “problem”. Jacques Ould Aoudia looks at the issues rised by the migratory phenomenon in the concerned countries as an economist. In particular, he uses his personal experience as a President of theassociation “Migrations & Développement” to analyse the impact of migrants in terms of development on their region of origin.

    This paper investigates the relationship between economic growth and job creation in developing economies with a focus on low and lower middleincome countries along two dimensions: growth patterns and short-run correlations.
