Len Ishmael, Senior fellow at the Policy Center for the New South, will be speaking in a discussion hosted  by the European Centre for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) and the European Think Tank Group (ETTG), to present the book: "Aftermath of War in Europe: The West vs. the Global South". Edited by Len Ishmael, this publication provides an insight into the lens through which countries of the Global South view the current period of successive crises, brought about by an ongoing global pandemic and a war in Europe. Co-authors Christian Bachhmeier, Doctoral Researcher at SOAS University and Kevin Verbelen, Senior Expert in International Trade at Agoria will join the discussion to present their respective chapters.

Ambassador Dr. Len Ishmael is an affiliate Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University teaching the MSc course New South Dynamics, as well as Geopolitics and Geo-economics in the Joint HEC Paris/Public Policy School Executive Program. She is a Senior Fellow of the Policy Center for the New South, Distinguished Visiting Scholar of the German Marshall Fund of the United States of America and a Senior Fellow of the European Centre for Development Policy Management. Christian spent 30 years in Southeast Asia working as a CEO and Group Director in the largest Indonesian conglomerate. As a keen observer of contemporary events of historical importance, he had ‘one-in-a-life-time’ chance to witness the resurgence of Asia, from the so-called Asian Tigers era to the aftermath of the 1997 financial crisis that resulted in this unprecedented economic and political dynamism across the region. Christian completed his Master of Arts in International Relations at Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, in September 2017, as a capstone in his Asian life. Geert expertise is in the EU’s international partnerships and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a focus on governance and democracy, conflict resolution and security, policy coherence, migration and development, regional integration, multi-stakeholder participation and inclusive partnerships. Senior Expert International Trade, Agoria
Kevin Verbelen is company lawyer and senior expert international trade at Agoria, the Belgian association of technologically inspired companies. Kevin Verbelen provides technical legal advice on international trade and investment as well as on customs law. He is head of the Agoria Academy Customs & Trade, a certified course for customs representatives. He is member of the Steering Committee of the National Customs Forum of Belgium and Chair of the Digital Trade Policy Group at DIGITALEUROPE. Prior to joining Agoria, he worked as International Trade and Investment Policy Advisor at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the regional Government of Flanders.
