Kevin Verbelen
Senior Expert International Trade, Agoria

Kevin Verbelen is company lawyer and senior expert international trade at Agoria, the Belgian association of technologically inspired companies. Kevin Verbelen provides technical legal advice on international trade and investment as well as on customs law. He is head of the Agoria Academy Customs & Trade, a certified course for customs representatives. He is member of the Steering Committee of the National Customs Forum of Belgium and Chair of the Digital Trade Policy Group at DIGITALEUROPE. Prior to joining Agoria, he worked as International Trade and Investment Policy Advisor at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the regional Government of Flanders. As policy advisor, he assisted in negotiating the Belgian compromise for the trade agreement between the EU and Canada (CETA). He also assisted the Minister-President of Flanders during his annual missions to the World Economic Forum.

Kevin Verbelen is also Head of the International Organisations Expert Group of the Brussels Diplomatic Academy, where he teaches Foreign Trade and Investment Policy of the EU, US, and China. Kevin Verbelen holds a Master of Law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, specialising in European and International Law. He holds a LL.M International Trade and Business Law from the University of Arizona, where he was awarded for his excellence in International Environmental Law. He studied WTO-law during his Erasmus exchange at the University of Copenhagen and interned at the Belgian Representation to the WTO in Geneva and at the Belgian Embassy in Nairobi.
