La succession des chocs pandémique, climatique et géopolitique a éprouvé les économies africaines. Les liens commerciaux et financiers avec le monde ne sont plus seulement considérés comme des moteurs de performance, mais aussi comme des sources potentielles de vulnérabilité. La défiance à l’égard de la mondialisation s’est accrue.  Parce qu’elle est venue souligner la dépendance du continent, le dérèglement de ses rapports à la nature et sa vulnérabilité face aux tensions géopolitiques. Cela va-t-il inciter l’Afrique à s’engager dans de nouvelles stratégies de développement moins débridées, plus autonomes et accélératrices de la transformation structurelle? 

Dans un environnement incertain, l’enjeu économique n’est pas seulement de reconquérir une nouvelle frontière de croissance, il est aussi de réinventer les modèles de développement. Il s’agit de tracer le chemin de compatibilité ente l’innovation économique, la cohésion sociale, la durabilité écologique. Il s’agit de renforcer la convergence des dynamiques des Communautés économiques régionales et du chantier de la Zlecaf pour tisser une interdépendance économique, vecteur de la résilience du Contient.  L’Edition 2021 du Rapport du PCNS sur l’Economie Africaine réunie des contributions d’une pléiade de chercheurs, praticiens du développement et acteurs de premier plan pour explorer les voies de renouveau de la solidarité économique africaine, valeur fondatrice du projet panafricain.

Fathallah Oualalou is an economist, Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South.  He obtained his PhD in economics from the University of Paris in 1968. Prior to joining the Policy Center for the New South, he served as a professor at Mohammed V University in Rabat and other higher education institutions in Morocco, and as an associate professor at several foreign universities. He is the author of numerous books and articles in the fields of economic theory, financial economics, international economic relations, the economies of Maghreb countries, the Arab world, and the Euro-Mediterranean area. Larabi Jaïdi is a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South and an Affiliate Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. His areas of expertise include international economy, economic policies, international economic relations, regional economies, social development, international relations, and Mediterranean studies. He also served on the Special Commission on the New Development Model of Morocco, a consultative body created in November 2019 to formulate the country's new developmental guidelines. Hamza Saoudi is an Economist at the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS). He is a graduate engineer from the National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (INSEA). He is currently working on topics related to business cycles, unemployment, inequality and poverty in developing countries. Hamza is also interested in macroeconomic stabilization policies, International Trade and Growth and long-term economic development. Akram Zaoui is a Senior International Relations Specialist and Chargé de Mission to the Executive President at the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS). Prior to this, he was Manager of Research Support and the Public Policy Lab at the PCNS. His main area of interest is the geopolitical economy of the Extended Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. From 2018 to 2020, Zaoui was the coordinator of a network of 70+ civil society organizations (CSOs) across France, working with foundations, government, local communities, and the private sector. Abdelaaziz Ait Ali is a principal Economist and head of the Research Department at the Policy Center for the New South. He joined the Center in 2014 after five years of experience at the Central Bank of Morocco. He worked as an economist in the International Studies and Relations Department and was analyzing the real estate price index and financial asset prices for monetary policy and financial stability purposes. Mrs. Nezha Alaoui M’Hammdi is Senior Fellow at Policy Center for the New South (since 2020) and the current Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco to Ethiopia and Djibouti since 2016. She has served as first Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco after its return to the African Union by 2017, and to the Peace and Security Council of the AU (April 2018). Fatima Ezzahra Mengoub, researcher, development specialist, and policy analyst, is a Senior Economist at the Policy Center for the New South. She holds a PhD. in Economics applied to agriculture and an engineering degree in agricultural economics both from the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Sciences.
