Karim El Aynaoui, Executive President of the Policy Center for the New South, is a featured speaker at the online panel under the theme: "Informality in MENA: A Pressing Issue for Inclusive Growth”.

This online convening, organized by the World Bank Group, delves into the pressing issues surrounding informality in the MENA region and its impact on inclusive growth. As the region faces various economic challenges, including those from the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions, the subject of informality becomes increasingly crucial for policymakers.

Other speakers include leading experts such as Nadir Abdellatif Mohammed, Regional Director for MENA at the World Bank; Gladys Lopez Acevedo, Lead Economist at the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Practice; Nistha Sinha, Senior Economist at the World Bank; Marco Ranzani, Senior Economist at the World Bank; and Ragui Assaad, Professor specializing in labor policy in developing countries. These experts focus on equitable growth, social protection, and labor markets.

Karim El Aynaoui
Executive President
Karim El Aynaoui is Executive President of the Policy Center for the New South. He is also Executive Vice-President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and Dean of its Humanities, Economics and Social Sciences Cluster.   Karim El Aynaoui is an economist. From 2005 to 2012, he worked at the Central Bank of Morocco where he held the position of Director of Economics, Statistics, and International Relations. At the Central Bank of Morocco, he was in charge of the Research Department and equally a member of the Governor’s Cabinet.
