Len Ishmael, Senior Fellow at Policy Center for the New South, will be speaking at the panel “The equity conundrum – Can Global South think tanks glocalize the Development Agenda?” during the online seminar the 3rd Southern Voice Research conference led by the Nkafu Policy Institute.

Pandemic policy responses have been designed and anchored mainly in the Global North. Only tangentially were they extended to the Global South, frequently without consideration for the national or regional context. It is time to re-calibrate this power dynamic and Global South think tanks can play a role in this. Using context-specific knowledge they can spearhead pragmatic policies geared towards an equitable post-COVID recovery for all.

This session will explore ways through which cooperative actions by Global South think tanks could translate into decolonized or glocalized policies and concrete action. The session will bring together recommendations for an equitable recovery during the 2030 Agenda Decade Action.

This event is taking place virtually on Wednesday November 10, 2021, 16:30 (GMT+1).
