Karim El Aynaoui, Executive President of the Policy Center for the New South, will be speaking at a Panel discussion to launch the flagship report “Building Resilient Migration Systems in The Mediterranean Region, Lessons From COVID-19,” organized by the World Bank Group and co-sponsored by the Europe and Central Asia, and Middle East and North Africa Chief Economist offices, in partnership with the Center for Mediterranean Integration.

The report presents evidence on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on migration in the Mediterranean region and explores whether mobility can still play a central role following the COVID-19 outbreak. The report offers policy recommendations that point toward a vision of migration resilience that even during different crises can address key labor shortages, keep both migrant and native populations safer, sustain household incomes, and ameliorate blows to economic growth.
