The economics research intern will contribute to the analytical output of the Policy Center for the New South by studying one of the key themes outlined in the 2024–2026 research program. The intern will collaborate with and support the Policy Center’s researchers. In addition to research activities, the intern will also contribute to the general workflows of the Policy Center.

Mission and Responsibilities
Primary Research work: The objective is to support or co-author a policy brief or policy paper focusing on an economics-related theme (macroeconomics, social sector, agriculture, energy, industrial sector, etc.). The intern is expected to:
•Conduct a comprehensive literature review on relevant themes such as economic growth and structural transformation; macroeconomic policies; International trade; labor markets, inequality and social policies; agricultural productivity and food security; industrial policy, value chains and competitiveness; energy transitions, energy security and climate-related policies. 
•Collect and manage datasets relevant to the chosen topic.
•Apply quantitative methods and empirical tools, (e.g., using GE models, time-series or panel regressions).
Support to Ongoing Research Activities:
-Economic and sectoral monitoring: Analyze and provide regular updates on economic and sectoral developments at national, regional, or global levels (e.g. growth, employment, food prices, energy markets, industrial dynamics, social outcomes).
-Support researchers with specific analytical tasks related to current studies or policy evaluation.
-Contribute to the drafting of country or regional economic reports.
Contribution to General Workflows :
•Assist with various activities of the Policy Center, including support for seminars, events, or workshops.
•Contribute to the preparation of presentations, talking points, and seminar summaries that reflect current economic and sectoral research or policy priorities.
•Provide input for other institutional activities as required.
Candidate Profile
Core and Technical Skills:
•Enrolled in a graduate program in Economics or statistics
•Solid understanding of economic theory and applied policy issues, ideally in at least one of the mentioned topics and good knowledge of economic and development issues related to Morocco, Africa, and developing countries.
•Proven analytical and writing skills and good command of statistical and econometric techniques.

•Strong communication skills 
•Highly autonomous, rigorous, detail-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
•A collaborative spirit and a strong passion for development economics, public policies and the challenges facing the Global South.
