Luladay Berhanu Mengistie is a development and trade policy specialist with experience working on regional integration and SME competitiveness across Africa. She is currently serving as the African Trade Competitiveness and Market Access Continental Programme Manager and AUC Liaison Advisor in the International Trade Centre's Office for Africa, where she works with the African Union Commission and other pan African institutions. She previously advised Ethiopia's Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration on WTO accession and AfCFTA implementation, and contributed legal and technical analysis to the AfCFTA rules of origin negotiations, Her earlier roles include Trade Expert at UNECA and Mo Ibrahim Leadership Fellow in ITC's Office of the Executive Director. She holds an LLM in International and Comparative Law from George Washington University and an LLB from Addis Ababa University. The views expressed are her own.
