Ana Sanmartín is an international consultant at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, working on global food and agricultural policy monitoring. She has built her career at the heart of government decision-making. In Ecuador, her commitment to public service led her to serve as National Director of Macroeconomic Consistency at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, overseeing the macroeconomic framework for the external sector. As the first Ecuadorian selected for the ODI Fellowship, she brought her policymaking experience to Sierra Leone, advising the government on the design and implementation of Feed Salone, the country’s flagship agricultural transformation strategy, and contributing to a $10 million Agricultural Credit Facility. She is a Chevening alumna and holds an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Sussex.
