Raquel López-Portillo Maltos holds a Master’s degree in Government and Public Policy from Universidad Panamericana, a Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and Peace Management from Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, and a specialization in Political Analysis, Democracy, and Elections from the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE). With extensive experience across the public, private, and civil society sectors, her expertise spans international analysis, security, human rights, and gender equality.
In 2020, she was elected as a member of Mexico City’s Congress Women’s Parliament, a citizen-led initiative where she introduced two legislative proposals to combat gender violence. Additionally, she played a key role in UN Women’s HeForShecampaign as part of the Youth for Gender Equality Network, where she implemented a scholarship program aimed at supporting indigenous women. She also co-authored the “Beijing +25: Generations for Gender Equality” policy paper as member of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations (COMEXI).
Currently, Raquel serves as a Strategic Analyst for Latin America at a leading multinational technology firm and she is the Secretary of COMEXI’s Youth Program for the 2024-2026 term. In addition, Raquel contributes regularly as a columnist for El Universal newspaper and Opinión51, and participates as a political commentator on prominent media outlets such as ADN40, El Financiero, Milenio, and CNN, among others.
