Hilaire Babin
Vice President, Utilities to Industries and District Cooling, Engie Africa

Hilaire Babin is the ENGIE Africa Vice President for the Utilities for industries and District Cooling Network. Hilaire holds a master’s in Electrical Engineering and a master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career as a Project Manager with HMS (Cruises Ship Yard’s subcontractor) in Italy. In 2004, Hilaire started his own business in renewable energy in France. Having sold his business, Hilaire held a position as project manager for a heat pump manufacturer.
In 2013 Hilaire joined Engie Cofely and subsequently held different positions as Project Director on the District heating and cooling business. He was in charge to develop solutions to deliver utilities for the industry and the district heating and cooling Networks in Normandy (France) and in La Reunion Island (Indian Ocean). 
Hilaire took over the Project Department of Engie UK Energy Services in London in 2016 to develop, build and operate district heating, district cooling and private power networks in the United Kingdom. Hilaire and his team were in charge of the bidding stage up to the delivery of the construction. He was also in charge of the asset management and troubleshooting as technical expert.
Hilaire is now in charge to develop the district heating and cooling solutions in the African continent. His team is composed of local business developers and a local technical team with the capacity to advise and develop solutions. Hilaire has also access to the local operating team (3000 employees across Africa and 2000 in Morroco) to deliver the projects.
