Frank Hanson

Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson was commissioned as a pilot into the Ghana Air Force in 1990. He’s currently a distinguished fellow of the Gulf of Guinea Maritime Institute where he provides intellectual base on maritime issues. At the strategic level, the Air Vice Marshal attended the Air War College at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, USA. He attended the Senior Executive Certificate Course in National and International Security at the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts, USA. In a distinguished military career spanning more than 32 years, He served in Eritrea, Ethiopia, as a strategic planner for the AU and UN for the mission in Somalia and was the Commander of the Ghana Aviation Unit (GHAV 1) in Mali. Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson held a number of key command appointments before being appointed to serve as the chief of Air Staff of the Ghana Air Force from January 2019 to January 2023.
