Catherine Mantel

Catherine Mantel graduated from HEC in 1976 and owns a master’s degree in the Economics of Energy (French Petroleum Institute). She spent most of her career focusing on the development and structuring of international projects in emerging countries, specifically in Central Europe and CIS countries. She worked in the banking sector (Credit Lyonnais, CA-CIB) managing asset backed finance activities and key accounts coverage for 19 years. Later, she joined Gaz de France in 2002 with board responsibilities in joint ventures between GDF and Gazprom. With GDFSUEZ/ENGIE, she had the opportunity to work with electricity generation, environment and service business lines.  
She is fluent in English and Russian and has a working knowledge of Spanish and German.  To add to her truly international and diverse profile, she has been in charge of institutional relations for CIS and ASIA/PACIFIC regions, sustainable and smart city, renewable energy, energy efficiency, innovation. She represents ENGIE in the GCWDA (Global Clean Water Alliance for Desalination) board launched during COP 21, in the French Japanese Exchange Center Board. She is also a member of the French-Japanese partnership for smart and sustainable cities in AFRICA launched during COP 21. 
Currently, she is in charge of the Business development for Terrawatt Initiative (https://terrawatt.org/), an organization which was incorporated by ENGIE, TOTAL, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, IBM, IBERDROLA, BLACKROCK and SUGAR GROUP during the historical COP 21 in Paris.  
TWI is a not for profit association that coordinates task forces collaborating to the building up of the New Solar Market at Scale: a global solar power market based on common regulations, practices and guarantees, rapidly reducing the cost of production of solar electricity, converging towards the most affordable prices for people in all the sun rich countries that fall between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn, and accelerating investments at scale.
