Hamza Saoudi, Senior Economist at the Policy Center for the New South, will participate at a hybrid roundtable conference titled “Sustainable Human Development in Morocco: Roles for Renewable Energy, Green Tech, and the Start-Up Sector in Expanding Employment for Women, Youth, and Rural Populations.” This roundtable workshop, organized jointly by the Middle East Institute (MEI) and the Economic Research Forum (ERF), is scheduled for June 11, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco.
This event precedes the publication of a paper called "Energy Transition, Prosperity, and Empowerment: Opportunities and Challenges for Women and Youth Employment in Morocco’s Green Energy Innovation Ecosystem" by Professor Michael Tanchum. This paper, part of a multi-country project funded by Canada's IDRC, highlights the potential of Morocco's green energy sector to improve employment for youth, women, and rural populations through MSMEs in green tech.
Hamza Saoudi will moderate session 2 under the title « Expanding Employment among Women, Youth, and Rural Populations as a Sustainable Development Goal: Challenges and Opportunities in Green Tech and Private Sector Entrepreneurship ».
