The Path of Africa to Democracy
From

In a context marked by political flux and democratic backsliding in various parts of the world, the Policy Center for the New South and International IDEA are organizing a closed-door roundtable to reflect on the evolving landscape of democratic governance across the African continent. This session will be held at PCNS headquarters on September 9, 2025 under the theme: “The Path of Africa to Democracy”.
At a time when democratic norms are increasingly challenged both globally and regionally, fostering informed, inclusive, and strategic exchanges is more urgent than ever. This roundtable aims to explore the opportunities and challenges shaping Africa’s democratic trajectories today, with a forward-looking perspective on shared priorities and potential pathways for progress.
