Morocco-The Netherlands: Fostering Energy Transition for a Sustainable
From
The Policy Center for the New South and the Embassy of Netherlands in Morocco are co-organizing a roundtable under the theme “Morocco-The Netherlands: Fostering Energy Transition for a Sustainable
Future”, that will be held Wednesday, June, 21, 2023 at the Fairmont Hotel.
The energy transition is crucial for addressing climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation, while also driving innovation, economic growth, and job creation. By investing in clean technologies, countries can stimulate economic activity, enhance energy security, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. To realize the full potential of the energy transition, a comprehensive approach is needed, including supportive policies, regulatory mechanisms, and financial incentives. Collaboration between governments, industry stakeholders, research institutions, and communities is essential for fostering innovation and capacity building, while integrating the energy transition into broader sustainable development strategies is vital for creating a resilient, low-carbon future.
Morocco and the Netherlands have a remarkable opportunity to strengthen their ties and cooperate in the energy transition. Morocco, with its potential to become a continental clean energy hub, can attract international developers interested in climate business, while the Netherlands can contribute its expertise in technology, engineering, and project development in the clean energy sector. Cooperation between these countries can involve research and development, knowledge sharing, and technology transfer. Furthermore, joint initiatives and partnerships between public and private actors can stimulate investment, drive innovation, and promote market development in both countries. This roundtable provides a platform for stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, share best practices, and develop actionable recommendations to advance the energy transition agenda and strengthen the bilateral relationship between Morocco and the Netherlands in this important field.
