Morocco and the Evolving Geography of Regional Security

The Policy Center for the New South (PCNS) is pleased to host a senior British defense and diplomatic delegation on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, led by the United Kingdom’s Defence Senior Adviser for the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME), Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren. The delegation will exchange with PCNS experts in a discussion on “Morocco and the Evolving Geography of Regional Security.”
The discussion will examine Morocco’s role within an increasingly interconnected security landscape extending from the Atlantic and the Sahel to North Africa and the wider Middle East. Drawing on the Moroccan Atlantic Initiative, developments in Libya and Sudan, the possible expansion of terrorist activity from the Sahel, and the growing use of drones by state and non-state actors in Africa, participants will consider how evolving geopolitical and security dynamics are reshaping regional priorities, partnerships, and approaches to stability.
This exchange will provide an opportunity to share PCNS perspectives on these transformations, deepen strategic dialogue and identify areas of common interest in support of regional security, cooperation, and resilience.
