Advanced Training in Commodity Economics & Finance - Long-Term Dynamics and Structures of Commodities Markets

The course will present and illustrate industrial economics and political economy models able to address the three following questions:
• The long term trends of mineral commodities prices;
• The short term behavior of mineral commodities prices;
• The political economy of mineral rents.
Most examples and illustrations will be taken from fossil fuels, phosphates, fertilizers and metals markets
Objectives :
Understanding of the industrial and political economics of mineral resources and commodities.

Professor of Economics at Mines ParisTech
Pierre-Noël Giraud, graduated from École Polytechnique, École des Mines and Université de la Sorbonne. He is now Professor of Economics at Mines ParisTech and Dauphine PSL Research Universoty. He is member of the French Academy of Technologies, and of the Scientific Council of Orange He is also member of the board of Areva NC.
