Otaviano Canuto, Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South, will participate in a virtual roundtable organized by the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF), titled “Brazil’s Elections in Regional Perspective: Implications for the Global Economy,” on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Morocco time).

Organized by OMFIF’s Economic and Monetary Policy Institute ahead of Brazil’s presidential election on October 4, the discussion will explore the vote’s implications for Brazil’s economic outlook, monetary and fiscal policies, and geopolitical priorities. It will also examine how recent elections in Colombia and Peru are reshaping Latin America’s broader policy landscape and economic trajectory.

Otaviano Canuto will be joined by Monica de Bolle, Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics; Andrea Correa, Head of Research at OMFIF; Marcello Estevão, Managing Director and Chief Economist at the Institute of International Finance; and Shelly Shetty, Managing Director and Head of Americas and Emerging Europe Sovereigns at Fitch Ratings.
