This session, part of the webinar series ''Social Protection Schemes: Lessons Learned from Latin America'', examines Brazil’s renowned social protection model, tracing its evolution from Bolsa Família to Auxílio Brasil and the recent adjustments under Bolsa Família 2.0. Panelists will explore how targeted cash transfers, combined with health and education conditionalities, have driven substantial poverty reduction, strengthened human capital, and fostered social inclusion. By analyzing the political, economic, and operational factors behind these reforms, the session aims to highlight the successes, challenges, and key lessons of Brazil’s approach, offering practical guidance for designing resilient and adaptive social protection systems in other contexts.
