Beyond Tides: Unveiling the African Atlantic's Development Potential
From

Closed-door Roundtable
The repercussions of the worldwide situation are being keenly felt in the Atlantic region and its Afro-Atlantic coastline. The present circumstances expose a paradoxical interplay involving not only the Euro-Atlantic powers but also extra-regional forces, entwined with the interests of all nations bordering the Afro-Atlantic. However, the African Atlantic space, encompassing coastlines from Morocco to South Africa and beyond, holds immense potential for development.
The African Atlantic space is confronted with various challenges, including geopolitical dynamics, climate change, and the need to provide necessities, while also aiming to develop the space industry. However, there are opportunities for the region's development such as the Morocco's Atlantic initiative, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, that aims to promote co-development in the Sahel region and enhance Atlantic Ocean access for Sahel countries, with the goal of transforming the Sahel into a zone of prosperity and stability.
This roundtable serves as a platform to unpack this potential, navigate its challenges, and chart a collaborative course towards sustainable and equitable development. By harnessing its diverse strengths, the African Atlantic can confront its complex realities, and forge unity across borders.
In this regard, the Policy Center for the New South is welcoming a delegation from the The Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA). This roundtable will delve into the multifaceted potential of the African Atlantic, exploring avenues from sustainable development to regional integration.
