Bilal Mahli, IR Specialist at the Policy Center for the New South, will participate in the workshop “Back to the Future: North Africa 2030”, taking place on September 9–10, 2025, in Rome, Italy. The event is convened by the Middle East Council on Global Affairs (ME Council) in partnership with LUISS University.

The workshop will gather leading experts to reflect on the future of North Africa amid profound political, economic, and social transformations. Through the lenses of strategic foresight and scenario-building, participants will explore the region’s key drivers security, economic transformation, governance, and external influence and engage in forward-looking discussions on the challenges, opportunities, and policy choices that will shape North Africa’s trajectory toward 2030.

Bilal Mahli
Specialist in International Relations
Bilal Mahli is an International Relations Specialist at the Strategic Analysis & Monitoring Unit of the Policy Center for the New South. His research focuses on Europe and the Middle East, analyzing geopolitical dynamics, policy development, and governance in these regions. Bilal holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve, Germany, and a master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Cologne, Germany.
