Our Senior Fellow, Otaviano Canuto, will participate in a panel of renowned experts during the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings event series organized by the Atlantic Council. The discussion will focus on the Bretton Woods system and the pressing need for its reformation, particularly in relation to Africa and its developmental requirements. The panel will also serve as a prelude to the launch of a policy report at the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Marrakesh in October. The Atlantic Council’s Africa Center, in collaboration with the Atlantic Council’s Geoeconomics Center and in partnership with the Policy Center for the New South, will unveil an action plan designed to reform the Bretton Woods Institutions, incorporating African viewpoints. The primary objective of the proposal is to better address the various challenges faced by the continent and provide financing for its development needs.

The event will take place on April 14, 2023, at the Atlantic Council’s studios in Washington D.C.
