Sabrine Emran, Economist, and Amal El Ouassif, International Relations Specialist, will both feature as speakers in the conference titled “ÁFRICA XXI”, jointly organized by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Madrid and the Institute for Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean (IPDAL).

Sabrine Emran will speak online in the panel titled “Energy cooperation in the Mediterranean as a consequence of the war in Ukraine”, with a focus on the cooperation perspectives of countries from the Mediterranean in the context of shifting energy paradigms following the war in Ukraine.

Amal El Ouassif will speak online in the panel titled “Report Presentation – Climate change and Migration: Understanding factors, developing opportunities in the Sahel Zone, West Africa and the Maghreb”, in which she will present the main findings of her contribution to this report.

This event will take place on November 23, 2023, at the Universidade Europeia, Quinta do Bom Nome, Lisbon, Portugal.

Amal El Ouassif is a Senior International Relations Specialist at the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS).She is also a PhD candidate in Forced Displacement Induced by Climate Change at University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) and CNAM-Paris and a member of the IDRC-FGSES Chair of UM6P on Forced Displacement Studies.At the PCNS, Amal El Ouassif conducts research on topics including migration, forced displacement, and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.Before joining PCNS in 2018, she worked as a program coordinator at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and served as a consultant in development policies with the office of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Morocco.She is also a former bluebook trainee in the Directorate General ...

Sabrine Emran is a Senior Economist at the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS).At the PCNS, Sabrine Emran conducts research on the Energy Transition, Climate Finance, and Critical Minerals, focusing on the energy priorities of developing countries in the context of sustainable development, just energy transition, and global climate commitments.Before joining the PCNS in 2022, Sabrine Emran worked as a Commodities Analyst and Risk Management Consultant, specializing in agricultural and energy commodities as well as foreign exchange risk.
