Africa Day 2025: Navigating Aid, Trade, and Policy Shifts
From
The Atlantic Council’s Africa Center, in collaboration with the Policy Center for the New South, is hosting a discussion on Africa’s evolving role in global affairs and the future of US-Africa relations within the context of the current US administration.
As 2025 marks twenty-five years into what has been described by some as the “African Century”, the continent’s demographic growth, economic transformations, and expanding diplomatic engagement continue to influence its position in the international system. These developments have contributed to a growing interest in Africa’s role in shaping global agendas.
This event will reflect on the key trends and shifts that have defined Africa’s international presence over the past quarter-century. The conversation will also examine current dynamics in US-Africa relations, with particular attention to the areas of aid and trade, two sectors experiencing notable policy developments, including changes at the US Agency for International Development and evolving trade frameworks.
This hybrid event is scheduled for Thursday, May 22nd at 02:30 pm (GMT+1).
