Rakel Aguirre is Europe Lead for Elections and Regulatory Readiness at Meta. With nearly a decade of experience in the technology sector, her work sits at the intersection of technology, politics, and democracy, focusing on election integrity and regulatory risk management. She leads cross-functional initiatives across Europe, bringing together global teams, policymakers, and regulators to strengthen election preparedness and address emerging regulatory challenges.
Originally from Spain and now based in Germany, Rakel’s international outlook has been shaped by living and studying across different countries. She holds a degree in International Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid, is fluent in six languages, and has worked in international environments throughout her career. Her interests include digital governance, emerging technologies, and democratic resilience, with a particular focus on fostering cooperation between governments, the private sector, and international institutions to address shared global challenges.
