Jerome Cowans
Social Impact Specialist, Cemex Carib Cement

Jerome Cowans is the Social Impact Specialist at Cemex Carib Cement in Jamaica. He leads the development and implementation of national community initiatives that strengthen corporate social responsibility and stakeholder engagement. He is also co-founder of Future Bridge Ja Ltd., a consultancy that connects vulnerable communities with private-sector CSR opportunities. Jerome lectures in International Economics at the University College of the Caribbean and holds an MSc in Management from the University of Birmingham as a Chevening Scholar.
Jerome has been recognized for his leadership and impact. He is a recipient of the Prime Minister’s and the Governor General’s Achievement Awards in Jamaica, as well as international awards from Canada, Colombia, the USA, the United Nations, and the Commonwealth. He received the Civicus Nelson Mandela Award in South Africa and was honoured at Buckingham Palace by Queen Elizabeth II. In 2015, he was publicly commended by President Barack Obama for his inspiring work with young people across the Caribbean.
