Ivo Walinga is China Programme Officer at the International Energy Agency in Paris, where he works to strengthen energy and climate cooperation with China. Previously, he held diplomatic roles with the European Union and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe across Europe and Asia, focusing on energy and development. His experience includes advising Central Asian governments on clean energy deployment and digitalization, conducting field research on East Asia’s decarbonisation policies in China and South Korea, and supporting sustainable resource use and mining in Mongolia. In addition, he has represented young voices in international energy forums as EU Young Energy Ambassador and IRENA Youth Delegate. He holds degrees from the University of Oxford, Sciences Po Paris and Peking University and speaks Chinese, Russian, French and Spanish.
