Mentor, Zinc venture builder/EIT Food incubator/MIINT MBA impact investing competition

Huw Thomas is a serial entrepreneur and very active startup mentor, previously focused on the ‘renewable energy transition’ and now on the ‘meat transition’. He is currently building Counterfactual, a new 'impact venture studio' building new companies in the plant- and cell-based proteins industries to impact upon animal welfare, health and the environment. He was COO of cultivated meat startup New Age Meats, co-founder of community renewable energy consultancy SCENE and CEO of sports nutrition startup Fuelit. Huw is currently a mentor at the Zinc venture builder and EIT Food incubator as well as the MIINT MBA impact investing competition (where he also supports Wharton with as a judge), and was previously Entrepreneur in Residence at the Entrepreneur First incubator/talent-investor and Venture Manager at CDL Oxford. He is also former Curator of World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Oxford. Huw previously spent six years at National Grid plc, where he focused on innovation strategy, scenario development, investment delivery and process engineering. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, where he presided over the largest synthetic biology student society in the UK, and is currently Head of EMEA for Entrepreneurship Programmes at iGEM, the world’s largest synthetic biology competition.
