Mary-Jean Nleya

Mary-Jean Nleya is a lawyer from Botswana currently working as in-house counsel for an international media network. She also writes on a variety of topics at the intersection of law, technology and international development. In 2020, she was selected as one of the IMF Youth Fellows by the International Monetary Fund. Her early career trajectory includes starting as an intern and later a contractor at the International Criminal Court, The Hague and being a senior editor for the Harvard Africa Policy Journal. Mary-Jean completed an MPhil in African Studies (with research on postcolonial literature and urbanism) at the University of Cambridge, Homerton College. She holds a LL.M. from the Harvard Law School and a LL.B. (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria.
