Catarina Mendes Leal has a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations, a Master in Public Management, 2 postgraduate degrees - in European Studies and other in Advanced Studies in Public Administration and a Degree in International Relations. She is also a National Defense Auditor and a National Foreign Policy Auditor. Attended foresight courses at GBN; as well as courses in the security and defense area: NATO School in Rome, at the George Marshall Centre and NATO School (Germany). Nowadays she is the Director of the European Affairs Department of the Ministry of Economy, former Head of the International Affairs Departmentof the Economic and Food Safety Authority, former Advisor of the Directorate General of National Defense Policy and guest lecturer at several universities and institutions. Member of the IPRI. Awarded the Jacques Delors Prize 2016, the honorable mention of the Prize Admiral Teixeira da Mota 2014 and awarded the National Defense 2010 prize; author of 6 books, many articles, and investigator of research projects.
