Le retour du Maroc à “sa famille institutionnelle “ à travers son adhésion à l’Union africaine (UA), il y a deux années, a nourri des espoirs sur la possibilité d’une évolution positive de la posture de cette Organisation sur la question du Sahara. Ce retour a, en même temps, suscité des appréhensions et des craintes sur d'éventuelles complications du dossier par une intrusion de l'Organisation continentale dans un processus exclusivement onusien, orienté, depuis 2000, vers la recherche d’une solution politique réaliste et mutuellement acceptable.
