A. Bathily Nayé

Head, Global Parliamentary Relations, World Bank

Nayé A. Bathily is an international affairs expert at the World Bank. Since 2004, she has served as the Bank’s first full-time parliamentary staff member and now leads advocacy and outreach to parliamentarians for the institution.

Bathily has actively contributed to the creation of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, a unique platform for policy dialogue on key development issues. She organizes thematic workshops for parliamentarians on topics such as trade, climate change, Millennium Development Goals, governance, and natural resource management. She also leads partnership efforts on behalf of the World Bank, providing strategic input to heads of states for major development roundtables in Africa. She earned a master’s in public administration and was a Mason Fellow from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in 2009.

El Aynaoui Karim

Managing Director, OCP Policy Center; Advisor to the CEO, OCP Group

Karim El Aynaoui is currently managing director of the OCP Policy Center and advisor to the CEO and chairman of OCP, a global leader in the phosphate sector. OCP Policy Center is an autonomous Moroccan think-tank created by OCP Foundation to further policy debate and analysis of key social, economic, and geopolitical issues that affect the future of the private sector and the country.

From 2005 to 2012, El Aynaoui worked at Bank Al-Maghrib, the central bank of Morocco. There he was the director of economics and international relations, providing strategic leadership in defining and supporting monetary policy analysis and strategy. Before joining Bank Al-Maghrib, he worked for eight years at the World Bank, both in its Middle Eastern and North Africa and Africa regions as an economist. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Bordeaux, where he also taught for three years.

Esther Brimmer

J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of International Affairs, George Washington University

Dr. Esther Brimmer is the J. B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of International Affairs at the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Her career includes serving at the U. S. Department of State three times, most recently as the assistant secretary for international organization affairs from April 2009 to June 2013.

She was deputy director and director of research at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies from 2001 to 2009 and was a member of the faculty. She also taught at the College of Europe in Belgium. From 1995 to 1999, she was a senior associate at the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict. Earlier she served on Capitol Hill as a legislative analyst for the Democratic Study Group in the U. S. House of Representatives

A. Crocker Chester

Professor of Strategic Studies, Georgetown University

Chester A. Crocker is the James R. Schlesinger Professor of Strategic Studies at Georgetown University, where his teaching and research focus on conflict management and regional security issues. He served as chairman of the board of the United States Institute of Peace (1992-2004) and as a member of its board through 2011.

From 1981 to 1989, Crocker was U.S. assistant secretary of state for African affairs. As such, he was the principal diplomatic architect and mediator in the negotiations among Angola, Cuba, and South Africa that led to Namibia’s transition to independence and to the withdrawal of Cuban forces from Angola. Crocker is a founding member of the Global Leadership Foundation and member of the Independent Advisory Board of the World Bank. He is the author of High Noon in Southern Africa: Making Peace in a Rough Neighborhood (1993).

A. Richter Andrea

Chief of Staff, Bureau of Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State, USA

Andrea Richter serves as chief of staff to the special envoy and coordinator for international energy affairs in the Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) at the U.S. Department of State.

In this capacity, she oversees the day-to-day activities of the special envoy as ENR seeks to shape foreign policy engagement at the critical nexus of energy and national security. Richter has held numerous roles at the Department of State, including covering the United Nations and G8 portfolios for the under secretary for economic growth, energy, and the environment. She completed her bachelor’s at Hamline University and received her master’s in European studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

A.L. Lewis Maundy

Communications Officer, Government of Saint Lucia, Saint Lucia

Maundy Lewis is a communications officer with the government of Saint Lucia. Previously, she was an assistant project coordinator with the Saint Lucia Development Fund, working on the Special Framework of Assistance project funded by the European Union.

Lewis is also a long-time volunteer with the Saint Lucia Development Fund, where she has spent multiple summers working with under-represented populations and those living in poverty. She is heavily involved in a number of national and regional development organizations, and was recently appointed to the UNFPA/OECS and Barbados Youth Advisory Group. Lewis serves on the boards of the National Conservation Authority and the National Community Foundation. She is currently pursuing a law degree.

Abbadi Ahmed

Secretary General, Mohamedia League of Oulemas

Ahmed Abaddi is the secretary-general of Rabita Muhammadia of Ulama, which is the council of religious scholars established by His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Previously, he had been appointed by King Mohammed VI as the king’s member of the Human Rights National Council, as well as the king’s member of the Environmental, Social, and Economic Council, and the Human Rights Consultative Council.

In 2002, Abaddi was a visiting scholar in residence in Chicago, teaching sociology at DePaul University, and the University of Chicago, becoming the director of Islamic Affairs there in 2004. Previously, he was a professor at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech. Abaddi holds a degree in Islamic studies, and completed post-doctoral studies in the history of religions in Paris-Sorbonne University.

Abdel-Fattah Dina

Abdel-Fattah Dina

Associate, Development Gateway, USA

Dina Abdel-Fattah is an associate with Development Gateway, where she is responsible for managing, implementing, and coordinating multiple projects, with an emphasis on incorporating geospatial tools for information management.

In this role, she manages the Asian Development Bank’s geocoding efforts, as well as the Aid Management Platform (AMP) in Haiti, where she oversees the coordination of activities related to Haiti’s aid information system and processes. She has an extensive background in international development and energy, and her areas of expertise include web-based development platforms, Internet-based technologies, and geographic information systems. Previously, Abdel-Fattah was a USAID Aid Management Fellow based in the Nepalese Ministry of Finance, where she supported the comprehensive coding of Nepal’s AMP. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the College of William and Mary, and a master’s degree in international development studies from the University of Amsterdam.
