Karim El Mokri and Abdelaaziz Aït Ali, Senior Economists, OCP Policy Center and Theodore Moran, Peterson Institute, will present recently published papers examining the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s economic and trade policies at a PIIE event on May 16, 2016. A presentation has been held at the Peterson Institute to discuss the aforementioned papers, co-chaired by Fred Bergsten, Senior Fellow and Director Emeritus, Peterson Institute for International Economics and Karim El Aynaoui, Managing Director, OCP Policy center.

- Karim El Mokri, senior economist, OCP Policy Center, will discuss The Unmet Challenge of Interdependence in the EU-MENA Space: A View from the South, coauthored with Karim El Aynaoui, Uri Dadush, and Rim Berahab, OCP Policy Center;

- Abdelaaziz Aït Ali, economist, OCP Policy Center, will present Industrial Policy, Structural Change and Global Value Chains Participation: Case Study of Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt, coauthored with Yassine Msadfa, OCP Policy Center; and

Theodore Moran, nonresident senior fellow at the Institute and Marcus Wallenberg Chair in International Business and Finance at Georgetown University, will discuss his paper Using Foreign Direct Investment to Upgrade and Diversify Exports from Morocco: Opportunities and Challenges in Comparative Perspective.
