This course will provide a better mastering of the economic and financial analysis in agricultural production chains through a review of the conceptual frame, the basics and many applications of the main analysis tools. Economic analysis tools mainly include the policy analysis matrix, Input-Output tables and the computable general equilibrium models.

Objectives :

• Familiarize participants with the economic concepts and the basics of the analysis of agricultural production chains;
• Being able to conduct an economic analysis of agricultural production chains;
• Being able to conduct simulations to assess the impact of alternative economic instruments on agricultural growth and income distribution.

Prof. Mohammed Rachid Doukkali is Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South and former professor of applied economics at the department of social sciences at the Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine Institute Hassan II (IAV – Hassan II) of Rabat, where he taught production economics, mathematical programming, macro-economic and sectoral policy modeling since 1981. He is the actual president of the Moroccan Association of Agricultural Economics (AMAEco) and associate member of the General Council of Agricultural Development of Morocco.
