The Policy Center for the New South, in partnership with OMFIF (Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum), is organising a webinar under the theme “Africa and Covid-19; Sustaining financial market development”, scheduled to take place via the platform GoToWebinar on Thursday, June 18 2020, starting 3pm GMT+1.
As the world’s next big growth market, Africa is driving foreign investment interest. An understanding of the continent’s potential to mobilize local resources to meet this interest, remains high on the agenda. OMFIF will share lessons learnt in their development of the Africa Financial Markets Index in partnership with ABSA. The index tracks financial market development across Africa, and it has become a benchmark for African nations and the investment community to assess economic progress and financial performance.
OMFIF and the Policy Center for the New South will convene a panel discussion to facilitate the sharing of best practices in financial market development. Bringing together leading policymakers, regulators, and financial institutions to promote public-private sector dialogue, the meeting will reflect on the index, the success of policy initiatives and the extent of barriers to private sector African investment.
This event will be broadcasted live via our YouTube channel and Facebook page.
